Thirsty Thursday- Consistent and Obedient

First let me share my happiness with you! I was asked yesterday for a button so another blogger can put me on her blog! Oh the happiness! The problem was that I didn't know how to do it. With her help, I figured it out. (Thank you Julia for helping and asking!) Now I'm button happy! Haha! So here is the one I did for Thirsty Thursday. (If you want it for your blog to share, I will put it on the home page but I don't have it up yet!)

"Source of love, and light of day, Tear me from myself away; Every view and thought of mine Cast into the mould of thine; Teach, O teach this faithless heart a consistent constant part.
-Madame Guyon

I have no clue who this lady is but it so speaks my heart today! I struggle with being constant and obedient in my faith. I know I need to pray about it more so I can just give myself to Him to do His will. I get so stuck in the moment of everyday activities and needs that I forget about doing my devotions and reading the Word for me to grow as a Christian. Everything I do, I mean well but I forget to put what God wants from us first! I know I am not the only one that struggles with this! (Please tell me I'm not the only one!) This is why I am doing this every Thursday. It's to keep me accountable too! Don't get me wrong, my faith does interact with everything I say and do everyday but I want to be more! Don't you?

Deauteronomy 6:3 (NIV) says "Hear, O Israel, and be careful to obey so that it may go well with you and that you may increase greatly in a land flowing with milk and honey, just as the Lord, the God of your fathers, promised you."

This kind of speaks to what I wrote about yesterday. You can see that here. If you obey the Lord, your dreams could come true! I told you, we can pray for the "milk and honey"!! God is Good, All the time!!!

My prayer is to be consistent in reading the Word, devotions, praying and acting it out! I believe that obedience and consistency will come together by doing these things!

Let's pray...
Lord, you know I mean well and I try everyday. Me trying on my own is not working. I need you. Help me to not feel I am too busy so that I can be obedient to you. Give me consistency to grow in You so that I may have what you promised! Thank you for helping me to see the things I'm missing. In Jesus' name we pray, Amen!

Do you struggle with this too? Am I alone in this? What do these scriptures and/or sayings tell you at this moment? I want to hear if this is helping you too! I know it's helping me but my goal is to help my friends too!

  3. Oh sister! You know you are preaching to the choir on this one! You've got it right. God does have great things for us, but we can miss it if we are too busy! I struggle with spending time with the Lord, too. I try to keep this verse in my mind "Seek ye first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things shall be added unto you." It helps to keep my priorities in order.

  5. I've been where you are...believe me! I think two things woke me up, 1. the Jabez study. 2. The night of the "gathering" that I told you about, not the Emmaus gathering, the one where the saints of our church were there and feeling the spirit and I felt nothing. If anything I felt the urge to flee. THAT scared me into study, because I didn't understand why I couldn't see the Lord there. So, the only way to get to know the Lord when I see Him is to study His word...of course I told you that I had to pray that he would make me crave His word...but anyway. I read Allen's blog yesterday and he was talking about how good or bad combining things could or could not be, depending on the combination (you'll have to go read it) but anyway, how about combining your devotion or bible study with a good cup of coffee, you LOVE you some coffee ;) Just a thought.
